Description Audi SQ5

Audi SQ5 - a sports version of the Audi Q5 crossover. Second generation (FY) models submitted in January 2017 at the Detroit Auto Show.

Differences from original models in the Audi SQ5 are accentuated by bumpers with large air intakes, aluminum-look mirror caps, body-coloured door trims, twin exhaust pipes and a diffuser with a mesh insert. Another highlight of the S model is the radiator grille with twin aluminum slats and contrasting decorative elements in Twilight Gray matt dark grey. Additional highlights are provided by the red diamond S badges on the various body parts. Full LED lighting and dynamic turn indicators are standard equipment.

The new Audi SQ5 is 35 kg lighter than its predecessor – the curb weight of the second generation model is 1,995 kg. Weight has decreased due to an increase in the proportion of aluminum and high-strength steels in the body structure.

The interior welcomes the driver and passengers with illuminated door sills emblazoned with S emblems. The leather steering wheel has contrast stitching, while the leather/Alcantara front seats have reinforced lateral support. Seats upholstered in Fine Nappa leather with lozenge stitching and pneumatic massage system are available as an option. The basic version already includes decorative inserts made of brushed aluminum. Various wood finishes and carbon inserts are available on request. Pedal pads and footrest are covered with stainless steel.

The rear seatback of the Audi SQ5 is divided into three parts. As an option, adjustment of the longitudinal position of the rear seat and backrest tilt adjustment are available. Depending on the position of the rear seat, the volume of the luggage compartment ranges from 500 to 610 liters. With the rear seat folded down, the volume increases to 1,550 liters.

For the new Audi SQ5, the multimedia system MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch controller and 8.3-inch display is available. The system recognizes handwriting, as well as familiar gestures for controlling consumer electronic devices, such as zooming. In addition, it provides tactile feedback.

The Audi SQ5 comes standard with adaptive air suspension, Audi drive select, a 10-speaker audio system and rear subwoofer. Optionally available virtual instrument panel Audi Virtual cockpit, head-up display and LED matrix headlights.

The algorithm of the MMI system is built on the horizontal principle, which is used in smartphones. The system offers features such as an intelligent search engine using plain text. The voice control system is also capable of recognizing normal speech. The functions of an additional, third level of control in the new Audi SQ5 are carried out by a multifunction steering wheel upholstered in leather. As an option, Audi offers a new head-up display. It displays important information on the windshield, including assistance system tips in the form of symbols and numbers.

The new Audi SQ5 is available with all the assistance systems offered for the base model Audi Q5: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistant, collision warning, rear cross traffic assistant, door warning system, collision avoidance assistant, cornering assistant and emergency emergency braking Audi pre sense city. Also available for the model is Park Assist, a traffic sign recognition system and a downhill assist.

The Audi SQ5 is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0 TFSI petrol engine, in which a twin-scroll turbocharger has replaced the compressor. The power unit develops 354 hp. power and 500 Nm of torque and accelerates the car to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The three-liter engine is combined with an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and a proprietary quattro all-wheel drive system.

During dynamic cornering, the automation, if necessary, brakes the wheels located on the inner radius, thereby ensuring accurate following of the required trajectory. During quiet driving, the all-wheel drive system redistributes torque with a slight emphasis on the rear axle, but at any time traction can be transferred to the front wheels. A quattro sports differential is available as an option for the Audi SQ5, which, by distributing power between the rear wheels, optimizes handling even more effectively and prevents the risk of understeer.
