Audi Q5 - second generation model (FY) submitted in autumn 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. Compared to its predecessor, the crossover has grown a little, become lighter, received an optional air suspension and “registered” at a new plant outside of Europe.
The main competitors of the Audi Q5:
The car is built on the new MLB evo platform, which also formed the basis of the fifth generation Audi A4 (B9) and the second generation Audi Q7 (4M). It differs from the previous MLB architecture primarily in its redesigned suspension (double wishbone front and multi-link rear) and rack-mounted electromechanical power steering. Other highlights include the fact that the hood, fifth door, front bumper cross member and front suspension mounts in the new Q5 are all made from aluminium. The expanded use of this metal led to a decrease in curb weight by 90 kg.
The second generation Audi Q5 is 23mm longer (4663mm), 13mm wider (1893mm) and 10mm taller (1659mm) than its predecessor. The wheelbase has grown by 10 mm (up to 2819 mm).
In addition to air bellows, allowing you to increase ground clearance by 60 mm, the “second” Audi Q5 can be ordered with active steering and an active rear differential. In addition, Audi has added “off-road” lift / offroad and allroad modes to the proprietary Drive Select system.
In the list of additional options: matrix headlights, massage seats, heated steering wheel, adjustable interior lighting, a fully digital Virtual Cockpit with a 12.3-inch display, an MMI multimedia complex with touchpad control, Bang & Olufsen acoustics and additional tablets in the front seat headrests . Also offered are adaptive cruise control, blind-spot sensors, a traffic lane monitoring system, a traffic sign recognition function, an emergency braking system, and an approaching vehicle warning system when reversing.
At the start of European sales, the new Audi Q5 received five engines: a 2.0 TFSI petrol four (252 hp), as well as a 2.0 TDI diesel (150, 163, and 190 hp) and a V6 3.0 TDI (286 hp). With.). The six-cylinder engine is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic “automatic”, while the rest is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-band “robot” S tronic with two clutches.
The crossover with 2.0 TDI engines in modifications of 163 and 190 hp, as well as with 2.0 TFSI, is equipped by default with a quattro ultra all-wheel drive system with a multi-plate electro-hydraulic clutch for connecting the rear axle and an additional clutch in the rear gearbox. Q5 with a 150-horsepower turbodiesel can be front- or all-wheel drive with a connected rear axle. The "six-cylinder" version of the model is exclusively all-wheel drive.
The second generation Audi Q5 is produced in Mexico.
