The Audi Q3 is a crossover from the German premium automaker from Ingolstadt. Technically, the aggregate base of the Audi Q3 is a hodgepodge of the “Golf” platform PQ35 and the more extended PQ46 platform, on which, for example, the Volkswagen Passat or Skoda Superb is built. Thanks to this combination, it was possible to achieve an almost perfect weight distribution along the axes - 58:42.
Powerful 2.0-liter gasoline units (EA888 gen 2 - 170 and 211 hp) and diesel engines (140 and 177 hp) are equipped with a Quattro all-wheel drive transmission based on the 4th generation Haldex clutch (5th generation from autumn 2014). The torque distribution corresponds to 95:5 with the possibility of redistribution up to 50:50. Since 2013, the base version of the Q3 with a 1.4-liter 150-horsepower gasoline engine has been front-wheel drive. And diesel 2.0-liter engines were also installed on the front-wheel drive version of the crossover until 2013.
In 2014, the model was restyled. As a result, the car received an updated design of the front bumper with a radiator grill, as well as a new rear bumper. New head optics now with fog lights integrated into it. The rear LED lights also received a new design (on the RS version, the direction indicators have become dynamic). The generation of gasoline 1.4 and 2.0 liter units has also changed. It is worth noting that the new 1.4-liter engine with 150 hp. can deactivate two cylinders to save fuel. And the new 2.0 engine (EA888 gen 3) has two modifications - 180 hp and 220 hp. The settings of the robotic box have also been changed, new options have appeared, a number of other settings and changes have been made. Course stability can now be turned off completely.
The updated Q3 engine range includes three 1.4-liter and 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engines, as well as three TDI diesel engines. Updated motors develop from 120 to 220 horsepower. All units are equipped with turbochargers and can be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual clutch S Tronic.
As additional options for the restyled Q3, the Audi side assist system will be offered, which informs about the approach of a car in the "dead" zone and the Lane Assist lane control system, and the sign recognition system will display information about the current speed limit. Also, the novelties will receive an updated multimedia and navigation system with the ability to access the Internet.
The Audi RS Q3 is equipped with a 2.5-liter TSFI five-cylinder turbo engine with an upgraded cooling system, which is assembled by hand at the Audi plant in Gyor, Hungary. The power unit develops 367 hp. - 27 hp larger than the same unit in the standard RS Q3. The maximum torque is 465 Nm, available from 1,625 to 5,550 Nm. Together with the seven-speed S tronic transmission with two clutches, the "charged" car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, i.e. - 0.4 seconds faster than before. In addition, the top speed limit has been shifted from 250 km/h to 270 km/h.
External differences in the Performance version are brushed aluminum trims (they are chrome on the RS Q3). In addition, an exclusive Ascari blue color is offered for the new modification of the model, as well as new 20-inch rims. Compared to the civilian Audi Q3, all "charged" versions are distinguished by a reduced ground clearance of 20 mm, as well as front brake discs with a diameter of 365 mm and eight-piston calipers painted red or black.
