Description Audi e-tron

Audi e-tron - premium electric crossover, the first mass-produced electric car of the Audi brand. The serial version of the model was first presented in September 2018 in San Francisco, and its public debut took place in October of the same year at the Paris Motor Show. Initially, the European start of sales was planned for December 2018, but later it was postponed to the next year.

The Audi e-Tron is built on Volkswagen's MLBevo modular platform with a front double-wishbone suspension and a multi-link rear. Despite the outward resemblance to the platform Audi Q8, the e-Tron is 98 mm shorter than its “relative” and has a shorter wheelbase – 2928 mm versus 2995 mm. The Mercedes-Benz EQC is considered to be the main competitor of the model, however, at the time of the debut of the e-Tron, the segment of premium electric crossovers was modest, so a much more compact one can be considered as an alternative. Jaguar I-Pace or balancing between SUV and minivan classes Tesla Model X.

The Audi electric crossover received front running lights and rear lights on thin organic light-emitting diodes (OLED), which are characterized by low power consumption, as well as very bright and uniform light. At the same time, simpler LEDs are used for low and high beams. It is noteworthy that, unlike German, British and American competitors, Audi did not abandon the traditional radiator grille in the e-Tron, but left small holes for airflow.

In the basic equipment, the car has traditional side mirrors, but for a surcharge they can be replaced with side cameras (the so-called “virtual side mirrors”), the images from which are transmitted to the OLED touch panels in the cabin. Cameras instead of mirrors reduce the drag coefficient and improve visibility by adapting the image to road conditions. For example, during parking, the field of view expands down to the curbs, and when overtaking, lateral visibility is increased to reduce “dead zones”.

The interior is designed in the same style as other Audi novelties: there is a virtual instrument cluster, two displays on the center console and a four-spoke steering wheel familiar from the A6, A7 and A8 models. Of the "unusual" (in addition to the optional side-view cameras) - the transmission selector. The massive “hump” on the central tunnel is actually motionless, and the rocker key on its end, which is placed under the thumb, is responsible for selecting modes.

The basic package includes an adaptive air suspension, which can change the ground clearance in the range of 76 mm. In the off-road mode of the driving electronics, the body rises by 35 mm from the standard position, and if the car is stuck, the Raise function can be briefly activated, increasing the clearance by another 15 mm. In addition, the Audi e-tron is capable of pulling a trailer weighing up to 1814 kg.

All Audi e-Trons are all-wheel drive by default, with two asynchronous electric motors (one for each axle). In the initial version of the 50 quattro, the capacity of the lithium-ion traction battery is 71 kWh, and the motors develop a total of up to 313 hp. power and 540 Nm of torque. From 0 to 100 km / h, such a crossover accelerates in 6.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 190 km / h. The older modification 55 quattro received a power plant with a peak output of 408 hp. and 664 Nm and a 95 kWh battery. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and top speed is limited to 200 km/h.

Claimed range in combined mode on the WLTP cycle:

  • from 285 to 339 km for e-Tron quattro 50
  • from 368 to 433 km for e-Tron quattro 55

Three fixed configurations are offered for the Ukrainian market with the possibility of ordering additional options: Basis, Advanced and S-Line. The basic version includes, among other things, 19-inch wheels, LED headlights, parking assistance, lane departure warning, 2-zone climate control, heated front seats, power tailgate, cruise control with speed limiter, adaptive air suspension, virtual dashboard and 11 kW Compact charging system. Starting with the Advanced package, 20-inch wheels appear and the design of the exterior elements changes slightly. The S Line version uses different bumpers, door and sill trims, a different interior styling package and an adaptive air suspension with sporty settings. Of course, as with any Audi car, the list of additional options includes various types of leather upholstery, premium Bang & Olufsen acoustics, a panoramic roof, four-zone climate control and much more.
