Audi's compact sedan was first talked about after the company unveiled the four-door concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The sedan uses the same base as the A3 hatchback - the MQB platform common to the offspring of the Volkswagen Group, which also served as the basis for the new VW Golf VII, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia.
The main competitor of the new Audi A3 Limousine (Sedan) is the coupe-shaped Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan, and the USA, China, Germany, Great Britain and Russia are designated as the main markets.
The basis for the new sedan was the platform of the five-door Audi A3 Sportback, the wheelbase of which, according to the passport, was increased by 1 mm. The increase in length is more noticeable. The four-door sedan was stretched to 4.45 meters, while the length of the hatch is only 4.31 meters. The trunk volume of the new model is 425 liters. This is 45 liters more than the Audi A3 five-door hatch, but the same 45 liters less than the Mercedes-Benz CLA. Although it is unlikely that the volume of the trunk is of great concern to those who choose between these machines.
By the start of sales, the Audi A3 sedan was equipped with one of three engines. A two-liter 150-horsepower diesel engine with 320 Nm of torque accelerates the car from standstill to hundreds in 8.7 seconds. A smaller 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine with 140 horsepower is capable of 250 Nm and provides acceleration to the first hundred in 8.4 seconds.
The third engine is a turbocharged 1.8-liter gasoline unit with 180 horsepower, with which the Audi A3 sedan is ready to hit 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds after the start.
The range of gearboxes will not surprise connoisseurs of the brand - all cars are equipped with either a two-clutch seven-speed S tronic robot or a six-position mechanics.
