Audi A8 - Compared to its predecessor, the new generation of the model, whose production began in 2010, has become 75 mm longer, 55 mm wider and 16 mm higher. Thus, with a length of 5,137 mm, the Audi A8 beats its main competitors - BMW 7 Series (5,072 mm) and Mercedes-Benz S-Class (5 096 mm). In addition to the regular version, you can also choose a 13 cm long version - the Audi A8 L.
All versions of the Audi A8 are equipped with quattro permanent all-wheel drive, which normally distributes the torque in a ratio of 40:60 to the rear axle. In addition, for models with engines up to 4.2 liters, you can order an optional sports differential, which actively fights understeer and provides a clearer and more dynamic cornering.
The range of engines consists of three petrol units - 3.0 TFSI (V6, 290 hp, 420 Nm), 4.2 FSI (V8, 375 hp, 445 Nm) and 6.3 FSI (W12, 500 hp, 625 Nm), as well as two turbodiesels - 3.0 TDI (V6, 250 hp, 550 Nm) and 4.2 TDI (V8, 350 hp, 800 Nm). The standard transmission for all engines is an eight-speed automatic. Depending on the chosen power plant and wheelbase variant, the Audi A8 accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.7 to 6.2 seconds.
The high level of safety of the Audi A8 is provided by eight airbags and the proprietary Pre Sense complex, which constantly monitors the traffic situation around the car using sensors and cameras. The automatic braking function is designed to avoid frontal collisions, and if there is a risk of a rear-end collision, the car will automatically tension the seat belts, close the windows and adjust the seats in such a way as to prevent whiplash injuries.
Moreover, the Audi A8 is so technologically advanced that when driving, for example, along a route laid out using the navigation system, the car will independently turn on the turn signals, and the transmission, which takes into account the length of the straight sections, selects the optimal gears.
Serial production of the Audi A8 is established in the German city of Neckarsulm.
